As the restrictions have been relaxed giving us all some breather from the restrictions which we lived in the entire 2020 and half 2021. The festival of lights is approaching but there is still some fear among all of us to mingle in the crowd.
Though the government has allowed schools to reopen there are still many parents who are hesitating to send their kids to play out. So, how can you make their Diwali vacation interesting while they sit at home?

DIWALI RANGOLI AND PAINTING :
Rangoli is adorned in almost all homes across India. A variety of designs are seen in the courtyard of homes. You can teach them how to draw simple rangoli designs, by adding a lot of different materials such as fresh and dry flowers, diyas, acrylic rangolis, wooden artefacts, etc.

DIYA PAINTING :
This is probably the most common activity held by the schools. Moreover, this does not get boring because there is so much to do on the diyas. Mirrors, beads, coloured wax, different colours, etc can all be experimented.

DIWALI STORYTELLING :
This is the best time to share with them the different stories revolving around Diwali. If grandparents are around, it can be even more interesting for them to listen to their stories of Diwali celebration. Interesting games can be built up around Diwali to keep them engaged.

MAKE LANTERNS AT HOME :
This is the best period of the year, when the decorative items required in the house were made at home. This will definitely hone the child’s creative talent. This will be a very fun and engaging activity for everyone in the house. From deciding on the shape to cutting the paper and sticking it up. Everything is nostalgic.

Packing gifts for friends and relatives :
Exchange of mithais as well as gifts is common during Diwali. Let the children take up the onus of decorating the hampers. Also, ask them to attach a handwritten card to it. Let them use things that are available at home easily, by this they will learn how to use from the available resources.
These are some of the ways you can keep the children engaged at home during Diwali vacation. Certainly, they will remain engaged and happy in doing this together with their family and friends.
