There is still a greater need to spread awareness among people about organ donation. Despite knowing its importance, there are very few, who come forward for organ donation.

To dispel myths and fears associated with organ donation, ReBirth Foundation, an NGO in Pune, has been working relentlessly since 2016.
Using its signature events – Green Corridor Short Film Competition, Bharat Organ Yatra, Rangathon, and conducting presentations/talks, ReBirth raises awareness about the concept of organ donation. ‘”The pandemic, however, has slowed down the rise due to restrictions,” says Aarti Gokhale, Central Coordinator, ZTCC (Zonal Transplant Coordination Committee), Pune.
“With technology scaling up faster than ever, we are instigating a ripple virtually. Once you fill the Organ Donation Pledge Form, you receive your Donor Card via email. We also request you to spread the link in your family/circle so that more people are aware of the facts of organ donation and pledge to the cause of organ donation. We wish that zero organs are wasted due to self-inflicted illiteracy,” sums up Pratik Bafna, a ReBirth volunteer.

Before this year ends, ReBirth is attempting to change the organ donation graph in the city once again. On the occasion of the Nation Organ Donation Day on 27 November, ReBirth’s ‘Mission 5 lakh’ aims to teach citizens about organ donation and appeal to them to be a donor. One can visit the website (www.rebirthtrust.org/donor-card/) and pledge to be an organ donor.
