There is a shocking racket to steal from the devotees in the name of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which has come to light as the temple’s grand consecration ceremony draws near. Cybercriminals have posted messages on social media requesting donations under the temple’s name. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has issued a warning about this stating to stay alert about such fraud. There is a QR code in these messages, when you scan and pay, the money is sent to the con artists.

As per further information from the X handle of VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal “Beware!! Some people are trying to loot money by creating fake IDs & giving fake QR codes in the name of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. @HMOIndia @CPDelhi @dgpup @Uppolice must take action against such people. @ShriRamTeerth has not authorized anybody to collect funds for this occasion.”

It has been discovered that the issue surfaced when individuals were urged to donate to the temple through phone calls and social media posts. The number was given to VHP staff by one of the call recipients. When a VHP employee called the number, the con artists’ methods were evident.

A VHP employee pretends to be someone who wants to give money to the temple on a call with an alleged fraudster. The alleged fraudster on the other end requests a WhatsApp number so he can send the QR code when the caller says he wants to donate ₹ 11,000 and other people in the village are eager to donate as well.

The fraudster claims he is from Ayodhya and that multiple groups are gathering money for the temple when the caller asks for his name.
