The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal movie, which was released in 2023, smashed box office records becoming a hot topic among film enthusiasts.
Despite being one of the highest-grossing films of the year, it became a subject of debate and captured widespread attention with mixed reviews.
While a section of society thought the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film to be absolutely misogynistic and a wrong example for society, others discussed that it was just a film and nothing more.
However, in a shocking revelation, Emraan Hashmi expressed the desire to have been part of the film.
During a conversation with Instant Bollywood recently when asked if there was a particular movie he wished he could have been involved in, Hashmi took a moment to reflect before naming “Animal.”
He admitted, “I know there was a lot of backlash and mixed opinions, I really enjoyed it and would have loved to be a part of it. I understand what that was for.”
The actor further acknowledged the criticism faced by this action film. However, Emraan shared his perspective and said that despite certain questionable scenes, one must appreciate the director’s noteworthy work.
“Mai generally filmo ko sirf ek audience ke taur pe dekhta hu. I did not want to get into the details of…There are a lot of things questionable about the way the film was made. But as a journey, I think the director really had a very different vision… I appreciate that for a filmmaker to go out and do something daringly different. I really enjoyed it.”
The actor also praised Vanga for taking bold creative risks.
This isn’t the first time that Emraan Hashmi has praised Animal. Earlier, during an interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, the actor talked about Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘commendable’ performance in the film. Emraan praised Ranbir’s portrayal of a character like ‘Ranvijay Singh’.
He was quoted as saying: “Main jyadatar itni filmein dekhta nahi hoon but maine ye dekhi hai. I think it was commendable jis tarah unhone poore conviction ke saath ek aise character ko play kiya which is not easy to like. Grey shades hein but poore conviction ke saath unhone us character ko play kiya, which is commendable.”
On the work front, he was last seen in the web series, Showtime, along with Mouni Roy, Naseeruddin Shah, Mahima Makwana, among others.
Now, he is prepping up to make his Telugu debut in Sujeeth’s action thriller They Call Him OG.
