Prayagraj: A Journey from Engineering to Enlightenment
The ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj has become a platform to celebrate the remarkable journeys of saints and spiritual leaders, including Acharya Jaishankar Narayanan. An alumnus of IIT-BHU, Acharya Narayanan’s transition from an engineering career to a life dedicated to Vedanta and Sanskrit teachings has captivated the attention of many.

Acharya Narayanan’s inspiring story is one among the notable figures at the Maha Kumbh, alongside “Chai Wale Baba,” a former tea vendor offering free civil service coaching for four decades, and “IIT Baba,” a former aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay who embraced a spiritual path.

From Tata Steel to Vedanta Studies
Acharya Narayanan graduated from IIT-BHU in 1992 and started his career at Tata Steel. A year later, he moved to the United States, where a transformative meeting with Swami Dayanand Saraswati ignited his passion for Vedanta. The guru’s teachings profoundly influenced him, leading Narayanan to return to India in 1995 to join a residential Gurukulam program.

Since then, he has dedicated over 20 years to teaching Vedanta and Sanskrit, guiding countless students on their spiritual journeys. Reflecting on his transformation, Narayanan shares, “When I joined IIT, it felt like a great achievement, but over time, I realized that achievements are fleeting. True fulfillment lies beyond targets and milestones.”
