Alerts and Forecast for Vidarbha Region

The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall with the possibility of extremely heavy showers in Nagpur and other districts of the Vidarbha region over the next two days. A red alert has been issued for Chandrapur, and an orange alert for Nagpur, Amravati, and Wardha districts. Nagpur, which has been experiencing heavy showers since Friday, recorded 90.6 mm of rainfall at the Nagpur airport observatory in the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 AM on Saturday.

Heavy Rain Causes Waterlogging and Traffic Diversions in Mumbai

Mumbai and its suburbs experienced intermittent heavy rainfall on Saturday, leading to waterlogging in several areas. Despite this, local train services remained unaffected, as confirmed by Western Railway and Central Railway updates.

Key Areas Affected by Waterlogging and Traffic Diversions:

  • Kurla: Traffic near Sheetal Cinema and Kale Marg was diverted due to water accumulation.
  • Goregaon East: Traffic on the Aarey route was redirected via Seepz-Marol Maroshi-JVLR.
  • Andheri: The subway was temporarily closed to vehicles, with traffic rerouted to S V Road.

According to the IMD, Mumbai received 91 mm of rainfall in the 24-hour period ending at 8 AM on Saturday, with the eastern and western suburbs recording 87 mm and 93 mm, respectively. The IMD predicts moderate to heavy rainfall for Mumbai and Pune in the coming days.
