Pune: The ongoing new pipeline work aimed at providing 24-hour running water to the residents of Balewadi and Baner areas has unexpectedly brought forth a new challenge. The residents have reported receiving contaminated water due to the ongoing construction, leading to difficulties in accessing clean drinking water.

Ashish Pandey, a resident of Imperium Sky Garden in Balewadi, expressed his concerns, stating, “In our society, which comprises 44 flats/houses, we have been receiving contaminated and muddy water since this morning. While we have been informed about the ongoing patching, connection, and new pipeline work for 24-hour water supply, it is essential for us to know the expected completion time, so we can make alternative arrangements for drinking water.”

Amol Balwadkar, Corporator of Baner Balewadi Ward in Pune, reassured the residents, saying, “Residents need not worry as the work is expected to be completed within a day or two. Once finished, the residents will have access to 24-hour pure and clean running water. Although only a few societies have reported issues with contaminated water, we currently do not have alternate arrangements in place. However, if the problem persists, suitable alternatives will be arranged. We kindly request the residents of Baner and Balewadi area to cooperate and remain patient during this period.”
