India : Over 95,000 kms of national highways built in last one decade, major boost to infra development
The Ministry of Road and Transport Highways (Morth) have announced that they have constructed about 92,000 kilometres of National Highways in the previous nine and a half years. And, by the end of the next month, the Highways will be completed with distance adding up to a total of 95,000 kilometres.Â
The majority of black spots on the National Highways have been identified by the Ministry and will be developed and cleared completely by the end of March 2025.
Furthermore, Anurag Jain, Secretary of The Ministry of Road and Transport Highways stated, “The Ministry has transformed planning and development vision-based transport models for the future with the use of cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). He further stated that the high-speed corridors are being constructed with the needs of the growing population and traffic in mind for the next 50 years.”
This was announced at an International Road Federation event.
Considering the development of roads, the job of infrastructure planners, designers and planners Is rapidly evolving. Therefore, they all must be prepared to adapt to new digital tools, technologies and Indian Transport Systems (ITS).
Road development is a major infrastructural investment in India. With more than lakhs of commuters travelling through the National Highway, they should be maintained properly along with proper and convenient connectivity.
