The director of Taqwa Islamic Maktab and School was detained by the Kondhwa police on Thursday for allegedly running the institution without authorization from the government.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Santosh Sonawane, Senior Police Inspector, Kondhwa Police Station, said “We have arrested the person for running the school illegally.”

A Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) official filed a first information report (FIR) at Kondhwa Police Station in September 2019.

Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for cheating), and 34 (acts done by several persons for furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code were cited by the police in connection with the complaint against Attar, another official, and the school principal.

Without obtaining permission from government agencies, the accused admitted eighteen students from Classes 1 through 8. According to the complaint, the school’s failure to register on the government’s Saral portal prevented enrolled students from receiving their Saral IDs, which made it difficult for them to apply for admission to other schools.
