Following the attack, air raid sirens were activated across the city, and security forces were placed on high alert.
Pakistan Retaliates After Indian Drone Strikes
According to official sources, the attack is believed to be Pakistan’s retaliation after India launched strategic drone strikes on multiple Pakistani cities earlier in the week. In response, Pakistan reportedly deployed drones over Jammu’s airspace, which were quickly detected and neutralized by the Indian Army.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple loud explosions, followed by power outages across Jammu and adjoining areas. The Indian Army intercepted and shot down several Pakistani drones within minutes of detecting them. In the aftermath, security protocols were intensified, and a region-wide blackout was implemented as a precautionary measure.
Sirens Wail in Jammu as Intelligence Warns of Further Threats
The Intelligence Bureau confirmed that explosions occurred near the Jammu airport, and the possibility of additional drone attacks remains high. Continuous air raid sirens and public alerts have been issued, urging residents to remain indoors.
The blackout extended to the Vaishno Devi region, a major religious site that draws millions of devotees annually. The Katra base camp, located about 42 kilometers from Jammu, also experienced power disruptions as part of the emergency measures.
Pakistan Fires Along Border Districts; Indian Army Shoots Down 8 Missiles
In a further escalation, Pakistani forces opened fire across multiple border districts, including Pathankot, Udhampur, and Kupwara. Reports indicate heavy cross-border shelling. Meanwhile, the Indian Army successfully intercepted and destroyed eight Pakistani missiles, showcasing robust air defense preparedness.
Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage Impacted by Security Measures
The revered Vaishno Devi shrine, located near Katra, sees lakhs of pilgrims every year. The attack has led to heightened security in the region. While there are no reports of casualties at the shrine, authorities are closely monitoring the situation.
