Indian billionaire Harsh Goenka has faced backlash from social media users following his advice on saving 600 Rs each day. The chairman of RPG Group shared a post on X encouraging individuals to develop positive habits, starting with small steps. He proposed saving 600 Rs daily, walking at least 10,000 steps, and dedicating twenty minutes to reading.

Goenka emphasized the importance of not underestimating the impact of small habits. However, his message was met with criticism, as many commenters fixated on the 600 Rs figure rather than grasping the broader message he intended to convey. Critics argued that suggesting a daily savings of ₹600 is unrealistic for those who may not earn sufficient wages.

“Saving Rs 600 per day = Rs 2,19,000 per year

Reading 20 pages per day = 30 books per year

Walking 10,000 steps per day = 70 marathons per year

Never underestimate the power of small habits,” reads his post.

A segment of the online community concentrated on the suggested figure instead of the main message, questioning Mr. Goenka on how an average Indian could feasibly save ₹600 daily, totaling approximately ₹18,000 each month.

Many social media users took issue with Harsh Goenka, suggesting he was disconnected from the everyday experiences of people.

Some even pointed out the salaries of his own company’s workforce, urging him to examine the compensation of his CEAT employees.

“Majority of Indians are struggling to earn Rs. 600 per day and you are talking about saving Rs. 600?

“Majority of Indians spend more than 15 hours to earn just to sustain, when they will get time and calm mind to read 20 page and walk 10000 steps per day? Sadly, your statement is feasible only for a certain portion of population,” was one comment.

Another comment seconds these thoughts, “How will you save daily, Do u get salary daily , Reading karni hogi utni hi karega admi, 20 page randomly to nahi padhega, Paisa aa jaye to koi kuch nhi Gyan deta hai.”

However, some comments also looked at the positive aspect of the comment. ‘Very true, never underestimate the power of small good things,’ said another comment.
