A new Vande Bharat Express train for Uttarakhand is expected to be launched by Indian Railways following a meeting between Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in the national capital on Friday.

The demand for the train was presented during the meeting, and its introduction is set to bring about a new era of comfortable travel experience for tourists visiting the state. The train has been developed domestically and boasts world-class amenities, as well as advanced safety features such as the Kavach technology.

The blue and white colour train is expected to be introduced by the national transporter between Lucknow and Dehradun. This will mark the second semi-high speed train for the state, following the launch of the Dehradun-Anand Vihar Terminal Vande Bharat Express on May 25, 2023.

Covering a distance of 545 km in less than nine hours, the Dehradun-Lucknow-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express will become the fastest train on the route, surpassing the Dehradun-Howrah Superfast Express and Dehradun-Gorakhpur Express. Both of these trains currently take 10 hours and 15 minutes and 10 hours and 40 minutes respectively to cover the same distance.
