Tesla, under the leadership of Elon Musk, has recently come under scrutiny for its layoffs, particularly after promoting employees just weeks prior. In April 2024, Tesla initiated a series of layoffs affecting approximately 21,473 employees across 50 technology companies. This move was part of Tesla’s effort to reduce overall costs.

Elon Musk’s termination strategy has drawn criticism from former employees and netizens alike. In a recent round of layoffs, workers from the company’s software, services, and engineering departments reported being laid off. At least seven employees shared their layoffs on Sunday, marking the fourth week of brutal job cuts within the company.

Many laid-off employees found their log-ins frozen and access to company offices halted. Consequently, termination notices were sent to personal email addresses instead of work emails.

The termination email, which has gone viral, begins with a generic greeting, “Hello employee,” rather than addressing the recipient by name. It states, “As you know, we recently announced a significant decision that impacts the entire organization, and you directly. As part of our effort to reduce costs and headcount globally, your position has unfortunately been eliminated.”

A former Senior Service Advisor at Tesla, shared her termination letter, which specified her last working day as May 5, 2024. The letter also informed her that she would no longer have access to Tesla systems and physical locations.

A former Operations Advisor at Tesla, expressed empathy for those affected by the layoffs, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of individuals who unexpectedly lost their jobs. He emphasized the unique passion, talent, and ingenuity displayed by Tesla employees, describing their contributions as irreplaceable.

The recent layoffs have reportedly impacted various segments of the company, including software, services, and engineering, with affected employees receiving notices over the weekend and on Monday. The layoffs have prompted discussions about the termination process and its implications for Tesla’s workforce.
