IndiGo flight 6E 5188, en route from Chennai to Mumbai, encountered a bomb threat upon landing in Mumbai on February 13, as per an official statement from the airline.

The pilot promptly alerted airport authorities, leading to the activation of standard protocols and adherence to airport security guidelines.

In response to the threat, the aircraft was directed to a remote bay, following established safety procedures. The statement emphasized that the plane would be brought to the terminal area only after thorough security checks are completed.

The incident reportedly unfolded when the pilots discovered a bomb threat in the lavatories. Acting swiftly, the pilots communicated the potential threat to air traffic control, initiating emergency protocols to ensure the safety of all passengers and personnel on board.

Once all security checks were completed, the aircraft would be repositioned back to the terminal area, according to the airline.

Authorities, including a senior official from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), assured that the prescribed procedures related to bomb threat alerts had been initiated promptly.

Fortunately, after a thorough search, no explosive device was found on board.
