IndiGo Turbulence Continues: After 5-Hour Ordeal and Flight Cancellation, Shirur MP Amol Kolhe Voices Frustration
Pune, December 5, 2025:
Operational disruptions at IndiGo, the country’s largest private airline, worsened this week, leading to widespread delays and cancellations. Actor and Member of Parliament Amol Kolhe is among the many passengers who expressed frustration after his IndiGo flight was canceled following prolonged delays.
IndiGo has been struggling with severe schedule disruptions for the past three days. On Thursday alone, the airline canceled nearly 550 flights — the highest single-day cancellations in its two-decade history. The carrier, which operates around 2,300 flights daily, recorded a sharp drop in punctuality, plummeting to 19.7% on Wednesday, down from 35% on Tuesday.
The airline has attributed the chaos to cabin crew shortages, technical issues, and other operational challenges. Officials have warned that disruptions may continue for another two to three days. In an attempt to stabilize operations, IndiGo has revised several schedules and canceled multiple planned services.
Amid the ongoing turmoil, Amol Kolhe took to social media to share his experience. He said his flight was first delayed by two hours and later canceled after an additional three-hour wait. “Despite the system wasting time, I didn’t waste mine,” Kolhe wrote, adding that he used the unexpected break to complete important writing work. While he acknowledged the frustration of the cancellation, he said he was glad he didn’t let it affect him.
In his post, Kolhe also expressed disappointment with the airline, stating: “This was not expected from IndiGo… No more traveling with IndiGo..! Jai Shivray.”
