Inside Ambani’s 600-Acre Mango Kingdom: Asia’s Largest Orchard with a Green Vision

When most people think of Mukesh Ambani, mangoes aren’t the first thing that come to mind. But tucked away in Jamnagar, Gujarat, lies Asia’s largest mango orchard, a 600-acre marvel owned by the Reliance Group. Originally planted to combat pollution from the sprawling Jamnagar refinery, this green initiative has grown into a flourishing agro-enterprise producing 10,000 tons of mangoes every year.

Named after Reliance founder Dhirubhai Ambani, this orchard boasts over 1.3 lakh mango trees and cultivates 200+ varieties, including native favorites like Kesar, Hapus, Ratna, and Sindhu, as well as exotic cultivars like Tommy Atkins and Kent from Florida and Israel.

What sets this orchard apart is its sustainable farming model: desalinated water, rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, and advanced fertilization systems all power the project. Beyond the juicy harvests, Reliance supports local farmers by distributing 1 lakh saplings annually and offering training in modern farming techniques.

This visionary project doesn’t just sweeten plates across the globe—it also helps reduce pollution, create jobs for over 500 locals, and boost agricultural innovation. It’s a classic case of hitting two birds with one stone: fighting pollution while building a billion-rupee mango business.
