iPhone 17 Air Leak: Slim Design and Single Rear Camera Revealed Ahead of September 2025 Launch

iPhone 17 Air Leak: Slim Design and Single Rear Camera Revealed Ahead of September 2025 Launch
The purported back image of the iPhone 17 series seems to show a cutout for a single rear camera along with an LED flash. This design may correspond to the rumored iPhone 17 Air/Slim.
Reports suggest that in 2025, Apple may introduce a new model called the iPhone 17 Air, which would take the place of the Plus variant. The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch worldwide in September.
Although various speculations are circulating, a recent leak has provided insights into the potential design of the device. Shared on X (formerly Twitter), the leak showcased what is claimed to be the rear panel of the iPhone 17 Air. Consistent with earlier rumors, tipster Majin Bu released images of two back panels, both featuring a rectangular camera bump.
In the leak, a blurry image purportedly is showing the back cover of the iPhone 17 Air. While the source claimed it represents the design of the iPhone 17, the presence of a single camera lens suggests otherwise.
Standard iPhones have consistently included dual-camera setups, and the iPhone 17 series is anticipated to continue this trend. Therefore, the single camera lens cutout located on the left side of the device implies that this image is associated with the forthcoming iPhone 17 Air.

As the release of the iPhone SE 4 or 16e draws near, X users are speculating that this leak may be associated with the upcoming model. This theory appears credible, particularly when considering the single-camera lens. However, the design language aligns more closely with that of the flagship series. Additionally, leaked images of the iPhone SE 4 reveal a design that significantly differs from that of the iPhone 17 Air.
The disclosed image reveals a pill-shaped, elevated camera module positioned at the top, representing the redesigned aesthetic of the iPhone 17 series. On the right side, there seems to be an LED flash along with a small opening for a microphone.
The iPhone 17 Air is speculated to showcase a more minimalist design, prominently featuring a single 48-megapixel rear camera, marking a departure from the dual-lens configurations found in existing models. This more efficient arrangement is anticipated to conserve space and contribute to a sleeker device profile. Additionally, the front may house a 24-megapixel TrueDepth camera, offering twice the resolution of earlier versions.
The iPhone 17 Air is speculated to include a 6.6-inch OLED display equipped with ProMotion technology, allowing for a 120Hz refresh rate. Should this feature be introduced, it would be the first instance of Apple offering it in non-Pro models, possibly establishing a new benchmark for mid-range smartphones.
According to the latest rumors, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to have a sleek design with a thickness of only 5.5mm. If these specifications are accurate, the iPhone 17 Air will surpass the iPhone 6, which currently holds the title for the thinnest model. To achieve this ultra-slim profile, Apple may need to make some compromises in its design.
