IRCTC, DMRC, and CRIS introduce QR code-based tickets for seamless Delhi NCR commuting

In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have joined forces to revolutionize the travel experience for passengers in the Delhi NCR area. This first-of-its-kind initiative supports the Government of India’s ‘One India – One Ticket’ vision.

On July 10, the ‘Beta Version’ of the Delhi Metro Rail QR Code-based ticket was launched, marking a significant step towards seamless travel. Passengers can now book these QR code-based metro tickets on the IRCTC website and mobile app, with the full version expected to launch soon.

The key features of this new system include:

1. The ability to book metro tickets up to 120 days in advance, synchronized with the Indian Railways’ Advance Reservation Period (ARP).

2. These tickets are valid for four days, providing greater flexibility and ease in travel planning.

3. Each passenger will receive a unique DMRC QR code, which will be printed on or available on the electronic reservation slip of IRCTC.

Commenting on the launch, IRCTC CMD Sh. Sanjay Kumar Jain and DMRC MD Sh. Vikas Kumar stated, “Upon the success of the Beta Version, the regular version of the IRCTC-DMRC QR Code Ticket will be launched soon after.”

This landmark initiative aims to provide a comprehensive and seamless travel solution, enhancing customer convenience through easy ticket booking. Meanwhile, it also promotes digitalization, environmentally friendly practices, and efficient transportation systems.
