Residents of Kalyani Nagar are troubled by the illegal garbage burning happening near Connoisseurs Club in Kalyani Nagar area.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, A Resident of Kalyani Nagar, requesting anonymity, said “Yesterday (17th October), in Kalyani Nagar, a disappointing lack of responsibility was exhibited by people who illegally burned garbage. Such actions not only contribute to air pollution but also jeopardize the health of nearby residents. It’s imperative that PMC takes swift action to rectify this situation. ”

The resident further said, “In the past, Kumar Kruti Society Management, residential society nearby to the Connoisseurs Club, had to summon the fire brigade to address a similar incident where garbage was irresponsibly burnt on an empty plot.”

Let’s champion a cleaner, healthier environment by holding those responsible accountable and promoting responsible waste disposal practices.”

As per further information from Kalyani Nagar residents, the smoke emitted from this burning engulfed the entire property, suffocating the residents and posing a serious threat to their well-being.

It is essential to highlight that burning garbage is a clear violation of the law, and the culprits responsible for this act must be held accountable for their actions. A similar incident had occurred where garbage was burnt near empty plots, leading to a significant amount of smoke.

The severity of the situation compelled the residents to call the fire brigade for assistance. Given the potential health risks associated with the smoke, it is crucial that immediate action is taken to prevent such incidents from recurring.

Pradipkumar Raut, Health Inspector, PMC, said “We had visited the spot however, we couldn’t find anything. But sometimes, such fire incidents happen in the area especially after evening.”

“As our shift ends at a certain time in the evening, we haven’t been able to trace such kind of incidents. We tend to face problems if we operate beyond duty hours. Still, I have requested a worker to visit the spot & check again in the evening time,” he added.
