Kedarnath Temple To Reopen On April 22, 2026; Full Char Dham Schedule Announced
Kedarnath, Uttarakhand, February 18, 2026: The revered Kedarnath Temple will reopen to devotees on April 22, 2026, at 8:00 am, bringing an end to its nearly six-month winter shutdown. The reopening marks the formal commencement of the annual Char Dham Yatra.
Recognised as one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple remains closed during the winter due to heavy snowfall in the Himalayan region.
Authorities have also confirmed the opening dates for the other shrines in the Char Dham circuit:
- Gangotri Temple and Yamunotri Temple will reopen on April 19, 2026.
- Badrinath Temple will open on April 23, 2026.
With the dates now announced, pilgrims can begin planning their spiritual journeys to these Himalayan temples. Authorities have advised devotees to complete registration formalities in advance to ensure a smooth and well-organised pilgrimage experience.
