The year 2023 has come to an end. Everyone is eagerly waiting for the year 2024. When the new year starts, everyone will be looking forward to Makar Sankranti. But be careful while celebrating the festival as a single mistake while flying Kites can cost you dearly. You will be sent straight to jail with no bail as the police have decided to take action under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

If you too are flying kites on Makar Sankranti, then this news is very important for you. Most of the lives lost in kite flying are due to nylon manja (thread) which is used for flying kites. After the death of a policeman in Mumbai last week, the Nashik police have decided to crack down on the business of selling nylon thread. If the chain of sellers and buyers of nylon netting is found, action will be taken against all of them under sections of MCOCA.

Nashik City Police Commissioner has taken up a campaign of taking strict action which has shocked the sellers of nylon manja in Nashik. As nylon manja is being sold not only from shops but also from moving vehicles and houses, a big challenge to stop this sale is now going to be faced by the Nashik Police.

Nashik City, Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the first case has been registered in Nashik’s Ambad Police Station after Nashik Police took up this campaign. In this operation, Ambad police have seized as many as 150 bags of nylon manja, the price of which in the market is in lakhs. In this action, the police have also proposed action against the manja seller.
