Pune : In preparation for the 206th anniversary of the battle of Koregaon Bhima at the village, the district collectorate has instructed the Pune city and its rural counterpart to start security plans, surveillance, and other safety measures.

To maintain law and order, the state home department has directed the police to keep an eye on social media posts about the festivities and events.

The state has seen multiple Maratha reservation rallies over the past few months, coinciding with the implementation of security measures and social media monitoring. If any false, defamatory, or divisive messages are disseminated on social media and messenger apps, the police have directed that social media group admins and message forwarders will be held responsible and that those involved will face severe legal consequences.

The Pune district collector said that they have taken adequate steps to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the event. The police have been directed to make sure that all safety and security regulations are put into practice and adhered to, and all pertinent directives from the state government are being followed.

A police official said that any action found in violation of these orders may be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. The section deals with defying legally issued directives from public servants.

Every year, a sizable gathering of Ambedkarites gathers at the Jaistambh in Bhima Koregaon. All necessary preparations are underway for the peaceful commemoration of the historic battle at Perne village, according to the district administration.
