Lonavla municipal council urges tourists to use masks

Pune: As Lonavla is witnessing heavy inflow of tourists who have come the festive season, the municipal council has appealed to people to wear mask, practice social distancing and use hand sanitizer regularly.

Pandit Patil Lonavla Municipal Council CEO said, “With corona cases increasing in countries like China, we must take precautionary measures while going to tourist spots. Wearing masks should be  first priority and people should maintain social distancing and use hand sanitizer. Even local people should wear masks.

“Majority of hotels in Lonavla are booked and many people from Mumbai and Pune prefer to spend vacations at the hill stations.To avoid any untoward incidents police department has also increased the number of check posts in the city.

Sub-divisional Police inspector, IPS Satyasai Karthik said,”Wherever tourist come in huge numbers, we will increase the check posts so people don’t get involved in any untoward incident. We also appeal to people to avoid drunk and driving.”

Vikas Dhole, IT professional, resident of Sadashivpeth who is enjoying vacations at Lonavla said, ” When we came on Saturday there was a long queue of vehicles on the Mumbai-Pune express way .

All the rooms in the hotel we are staying are booked. We are wearing masks as a precautionary measure.”
