Two percent of international travellers will be tested

Pune: The Central Government had issued guidelines to State authorities to strictly follow the RT-PCR testing of 2% of foreign travelers on the backdrop of rising cases of New Covid variant BF.6 in countries like China, Brazil, US, etc. 

Accordingly, the Pune Municipal Corporation has begun the thermal screening and RT PCR test at Pune International Airport. Though, from Pune Airport flights only fly to Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai yet the precautions are being taken. 

Dr Ashish Bharati, head of the PMC Health Department said, “We are following the government guidelines of thermal screening and conducting RT PCR tests for 2 percent of International travellers. Irrespective of symptoms we conduct the RT PCR testing. We have started a 24 by 7 service of thermal screening of passengers. “

“Only flights from Bangkok, Singapore and Dubai are international flights that fly to Pune. The RT-PCR testing of these foreign travellers is being conducted. We are following the Central Government guidelines. The team of PMC has been deputed at the Pune Airport,” said Santosh Doke, Director of Pune Airport.
