CM Eknath Shinde appeals to people to celebrate Ganeshotav, Dahi Handi and Moharram peacefully with enthusiasm intact

All the agencies should work in tandem to ensure that Ganeshotav, Dahi Handi, Moharram and other upcoming festivals are celebrated peacefully, while also retaining the enthusiasm and cheerfulness, said Chief Minister Shinde.

He directed the police department to effectively implement law and order. He also instructed all the districts in the state to take immediate action and give license to Ganeshotsav Mandals online and under the single window scheme.

In lieu of the upcoming festivals, a review meeting regarding law-and-order arrangement and various other arrangements in the state was held at Sahyadri guest house by Chief minister Eknath Shinde in the presence of deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Shinde said that in the last two years, festivals could not be celebrated with usual enthusiasm due to the pandemic and so this year Ganeshostav and Dahi Handi will be celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety with the support of the state government.

On this occasion, he appealed to all the mandals to celebrate Ganeshotsav in an environmentally friendly way, and to display social awareness and social unity. He directed the police and district administrations to plan for better law and order situation in the state during Ganeshotsav, Dahihandi and Moharram festivals.

Action should be taken immediately to fill the potholes on the roads across the state before the start of Ganeshotsav, instructed the CM. He also asked officials to provide sufficient number of state transport buses to Konkan.

Shinde asked the Ganeshotsav mandals to waive the registration fee, asked the police department to not ask for guarantee letter and officials to make provision for online registration of the new Ganeshostav mandals.

The chief minister insisted that all rules must be followed and said there will be a uniform regulation across the state, ahead of the festivals. He also directed the district administration to appoint coordination officers for the festivals.

Insisting that BEST should provide adequate power supply at all immersion places and routes, the chief minister said that there are no restrictions on the height of the idol.

Shinde added that appropriate action would be taken to relax some of the oppressive terms and condition for the sculptors. He said that idol studios would be placed after proper planning.

A technical committee will be appointed to decide on the idols of POP, which will have expert representatives from various government bodies like MPCB, NIRI, IIT, NCL etc.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Ganesh festival is an important festival and the administration should cooperate to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm.

Director General of Police Rajnish Seth presented the preparations made to maintain law and order ahead of festivals.
