Maha Metro requests PMPML to provide connectivity from Ramwadi station to Pune airport

Pune: The Maha Metro has approached Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) to establish connectivity of 2 km between Ramwadi metro station to Pune Airport at Lohegaon.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Hemant Sonawane, Executive Director of Public Relations And Administration, Pune Metro said, “We have held official talks 2 to 3 times with the PMPML since the beginning of the planning & construction of Ramwadi Metro Station to provide shuttle bus service to Metro travellers getting off at Ramwadi Metro Station & going towards Pune Airport. As per the flight timings and more, the PMPML will definitely plan & begin the shuttle bus services by discussing this with Pune Airport officials.”

As per further information, MahaMetro proposes to allocate a space at Ramwadi Metro Station for the pick-up and drop of PMPML passenger buses.

The Maha Metro, in addition to Ramwadi, is expected to attract a significant number of passengers at the stations of Kalyani Nagar and Yerwada due to the presence of various IT companies and residential establishments in the vicinity.

About 80% of the Metro work is complete on all four stations i.e. Kalyani Nagar, Yerwada, Ramwadi & Ruby Hall. To speed up the process, Metro has deployed the maximum number of workers in two shifts. The goal is to complete the work by December 2023.

In order to expand the Metro services for commuters until Ramwadi, the Maha Metro plans to finish work and the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety’s (CMRS) safety inspections by the end of December 2023.
