Maharashtra: 12 men fill Ladki Bahin Yojana fraudulent forms with photos of women; investigation on
Nearly 92,000 applications have been received for the Ladki Bahin Yojana from Kannad district. Out of which 90,957 have been approved.
Ever since the Maharashtra government has launched the Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, lakhs of women have applied for this scheme, which will provide financial assistance to women. Under this scheme, women in the age group of 21 to 45 are being given assistance of Rs 1500 per month.
Seeing the response of women and recognizing the difficulties faced by women in filling out the application form, the state government extended the scheme till September 30. However, several fraudulent cases have also been reported where men are opening accounts in the name of women to avail the benefits.
In a shocking incident, 12 men from Kannad taluka in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar filled out forms for Ladki Bahin Yojana using photos of women.
While scrutinizing these applications, the matter came to the notice of the Women and Child Welfare Department. Although 12 people have used the photo of the women while submitting the application form, they have submitted their own documents. In this, the Aadhaar card, guarantee letter, and bank account information have also been filled by the applicants in their own name. Upon discovering this, the department issued an order to take stringent action against them.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, it came to light that a person in Satara district had filled as many as 30 applications by misusing the Aadhaar cards of 30 people. Shockingly, money was also deposited in 26 of these accounts. The application of a woman from Panvel was not accepted. Then it turned out that someone had already used her Aadhaar number. This scam was revealed after a thorough investigation.
