Weather Alert For January 12: Unseasonal Changes Grip Maharashtra; Rain Likely in Parts, Cold Wave to Persist on January 12
Maharashtra is set to experience a strong cold wave as temperatures continue to plummet across several regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for multiple districts, warning that the chill will intensify further from December 10.
According to the IMD, Dhule district recorded the lowest temperature at 5°C, marking one of the coldest mornings of the season. In Vidarbha, temperatures have dipped to 9°C, and the cold wave conditions are expected to persist on December 9 as well.
In Mumbai, temperatures are gradually falling, with the maximum likely to be around 33°C and the minimum at 16°C under clear skies. The Konkan region is also witnessing a noticeable drop in temperature.
Pune, representing western Maharashtra, may record a maximum of 27°C and a minimum of 11°C, with clear skies forecast. The region may face a stronger cold wave in the coming days.
In Marathwada, cold conditions remain steady. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is expected to record temperatures between 28°C (max) and 9°C (min), with dry weather and clear skies.
North Maharashtra is witnessing the steepest temperature fall. Nashik may see a maximum of 28°C and a minimum of 10°C, with the cold wave expected to intensify from December 10.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha continues to reel under a cold wave, prompting a yellow alert for Gondia, Nagpur, and Wardha. Nagpur may record a maximum of 29°C and a minimum of 9°C. Other districts in the region are also experiencing a significant temperature drop.
Meteorologists predict that Maharashtra will continue to face severe cold conditions throughout the second week of December.
