Maharashtra govt announces new COVID guidelines

Keeping in mind the rise in Omicron cases and the festivities ahead, Maharashtra state government on December 24, announced new Covid19 guidelines. The decision was taken as there have been more cases of Covid19 as well as the Omicron variant in the state reported.


Debashish Chakrabarty, chief secretary for the state announced the same. The restrictions will be in force from December 24, 2021 midnight. The citizens should abide by the guidelines while those flouting the norms shall be liable for action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. 


Below are the new guidelines for Covid19 : 

Gathering of more than 5 persons in public places across the state is prohibited from 9 pm-6 am

Only 100 people allowed in indoor weddings & not more than 250 in outdoor weddings (open air venues).

Gyms, spa, hotel, theater & cinema hall shall operate with 50% capacity. Each of these establishment should inform it’s full potential as well as it’s capacity.

Other social, political, religious events the number of attendees should not be more than 100 while in open space, this number should not be more than 250 or 25% of the capacity of the space whichever is less.
