Mumbai, July 3, 2025: The state government is committed to providing grants in a phased manner to unaided schools across Maharashtra, announced Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in the Monsoon Session of Legislative Assembly. He stated that schools meeting the prescribed criteria will soon receive grants under the next phase.

Responding to a calling attention motion raised by Council member Kiran Sarnayak, Shinde said that in the past, several schools were granted permanent unaided status. However, post-2009, the term “permanent” was removed, and a phased approach was adopted for providing aid. Grants were sanctioned in 2016, 2018, and again in 2023. A meeting for the next phase was held on October 10, 2024, followed by a government resolution issued on October 14, 2024.

Shinde assured that while it may not be possible to provide full grants to all schools at once, the process will definitely be completed in stages. He added that discussions with the Chief Minister, Deputy CM, and concerned departments are underway to finalise the decision soon.
