Maharashtra: Police Women Officers Granted Saree Option During Pregnancy
In a notable decision, the State Government has allowed pregnant police personnel and officers to wear sarees while on duty. This official directive was issued on Wednesday, October 9.
To take advantage of this option, women in the police force must provide a medical certificate verifying their pregnancy. Once this is submitted, the Director General of Police (DGP) will grant permission for them to wear a saree during their pregnancy.
This move is seen as a relief for pregnant and postpartum police officers, many of whom struggle with the discomfort of wearing a uniform and belt during and after their pregnancy. There were also worries that the tight-fitting uniforms could pose risks to the unborn child.
The government’s decision aims to provide essential comfort to these officers during this significant time.
