This year, a remarkable 7.6 lakh students from the science stream are poised to sit for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams, marking a significant uptick of 1 lakh students compared to last year. The total number of examinees, encompassing both science and commerce streams, amounts to 15.1 lakh students. With such a notable increase, stringent security measures have been put in place to ensure the integrity of the examinations.

Emphasizing the importance of following official communication channels, students have been advised against relying on social media for exam timetables, instead instructed to adhere strictly to the schedules provided by their respective schools.

Sharad Gosavi, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, has taken note of the burgeoning interest in the science stream. He attributes this surge to the elevated pass rates observed in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, which has instilled confidence in both parents and students regarding pursuing science education at higher levels.

Gosavi elucidates, “With students achieving high percentages, there’s a growing desire among parents and students to opt for the science stream, opening doors to fields such as engineering and medicine. Parents are increasingly confident in their children’s abilities post-standard XII, leading to this prevailing inclination towards the science stream.”

This notable trend reflects a burgeoning confidence in the value of science education, signaling promising prospects for future generations.
