Teachers in Maharashtra have started to boycott the Class 12 examination assessment process, which could cause academic calendar delays. The Maharashtra State Junior College Teachers’ Organization (MJCTO) is spearheading the action in response to a number of unmet demands.

The MJCTO declared that the boycott would begin on February 21 in tandem with the start of the HSC class 12 exam. While the exams went well, the teachers’ boycott caused problems for the scheduled moderators’ meeting.

A coordinator of MJCTO said that there was no discussion on the evaluation of the English subject because the moderators’ meeting was not held. As a result, regulatory bodies and investigators throughout the state lack direction. The verification of answer sheets for the English subject has been suspended due to the boycott. After the boycott is over, evaluations will start up again.

The reason behind the teachers’ action is their discontent with how the government has responded to their demands. The coordinator claims that only a small portion of the promised promotions have been carried out, despite the fact that some concessions were made in response to last year’s protests, including approval for specific promotions. He underlined how urgent it is to meet these demands, especially the reinstatement of the previous pension plan for educators hired prior to November 1, 2005, and the prompt filling of open teaching positions.

If the problems are not fixed, the MJCTO coordinator issued a warning about the possible repercussions. MJCTO has decided not to move forward with the evaluation of the class 12 exams in the event that the government does not address their concerns. As such, the government will be held accountable for the academic difficulties that students encounter.
