Maharashtra Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Rain, Thunderstorms Across Mumbai and State During Diwali
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Maharashtra on August 27, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in several regions, prompting the issuance of Yellow and Orange alerts for 25 districts.
Key Weather Forecast Highlights for August 27
- Konkan Region: Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall. A Yellow alert has been issued for all six districts.
- Western Maharashtra: Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur districts may receive light to moderate rain. Pune and Kolhapur ghat areas could see heavy showers (Yellow Alert), while Satara ghat areas are under Orange Alert due to the possibility of very heavy rainfall.
- Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded are expected to see rain with thunderstorms. Yellow alerts are in effect, while Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv may experience light to moderate showers.
- North Maharashtra: Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. Nashik ghat areas could face heavy rainfall (Yellow Alert).
- Vidarbha: Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Yavatmal are forecasted to receive rainfall with lightning activity. Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Wardha may see heavy showers with thunderstorms (Yellow Alert). However, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, and Washim are expected to remain dry.
