Maharashtra Weather Alert: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 13 Districts as Monsoon Becomes Active Again
Maharashtra, July 17: After a brief lull in monsoon activity, rainfall is expected to make a comeback across parts of Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for 13 districts over the next 24 hours, forecasting light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in several regions.
The first half of July witnessed intense rainfall across the state before the monsoon weakened, leaving many regions waiting for fresh showers. Weather conditions are now gradually becoming favourable, with rainfall expected to pick up, particularly in parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and western Maharashtra.

Konkan to Witness Light Rain
Districts including Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg are likely to receive isolated light showers. Cloudy skies and humid conditions are expected to persist, with some areas also experiencing warm weather. However, the IMD has not forecast any widespread heavy rainfall over the next four days.
North Maharashtra Likely to Receive Scattered Showers
Light rainfall is expected in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik and the adjoining ghat regions. Despite the showers, widespread rainfall is unlikely, and temperatures are expected to remain between 30°C and 32°C across many districts. No heavy rain warning has been issued for the region.
Yellow Alert for Satara and Solapur
In western Maharashtra, Satara and Solapur are under a Yellow Alert. The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and wind speeds of 30–40 kmph. Other districts may experience isolated showers while humid conditions continue.
Marathwada Districts on Alert
The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv (Osmanabad), where thunderstorms, moderate rain and gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are expected.
Meanwhile, Beed, Parbhani, Jalna, Hingoli and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar may receive light rainfall, although no weather alert has been issued for these districts.
Vidarbha Expected to Receive More Rain
The monsoon is expected to strengthen over Vidarbha, with a Yellow Alert in place for Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia and Bhandara. These districts are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph.
No alerts have been issued for Akola, Amravati and Buldhana, although these districts may also witness isolated showers.
Rainfall to Remain Moderate Across Maharashtra
While rainfall activity is expected to resume, the IMD has indicated that heavy and widespread rainfall is unlikely across Maharashtra over the next five to seven days. Most regions are expected to receive only light to moderate showers.
The prolonged break in monsoon activity has raised concerns among farmers, particularly in rain-fed agricultural regions. Authorities have advised farmers to monitor official weather updates and follow guidance issued by the Agriculture Department while planning farming operations.
