The weather across Maharashtra remains unpredictable, with partial rainfall reported in some regions over the past 24 hours, while other areas continue to suffer from intense heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for heavy rain in parts of Vidarbha, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada, warning residents to stay alert for possible thunderstorms.

Despite scattered showers in certain districts, the oppressive humidity has made daily life uncomfortable. Mumbai and its suburbs experienced increased heat as the brief spell of rain subsided, giving way to cloudy but deceptive skies.

According to the IMD, while the cloud cover may persist in the coming 24 hours, it is unlikely to bring substantial rainfall, thereby offering little respite from the rising temperatures.

Rain and Temperature Trends Across Maharashtra

The IMD reports that a low-pressure trough extending from the Arabian Sea to Tamil Nadu via North Maharashtra and Karnataka is creating a favourable environment for pre-monsoon rainfall. This system is expected to influence weather patterns significantly over the next few days.

Meanwhile, fluctuations in maximum and minimum temperatures have been observed across the state:

  • Dhule: 34.0°C / 19.6°C
  • Kolhapur: 34.1°C / 22.8°C
  • Mahabaleshwar: 24.5°C / 16.4°C
  • Malegaon: 35.6°C / 21.5°C
  • Satara: 32.2°C / 21.1°C
  • Pune: 32.8°C / 20.4°C

These mixed weather conditions are typical during the pre-monsoon phase and have kept the public and officials on high alert.

Nationwide Weather Outlook

As per the IMD’s forecast, parts of East, South, and West India, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, are likely to experience thunderstorms and rain with lightning activity until May 14. Strong winds are expected in parts of Gujarat, and isolated heavy rainfall may hit plains in West Bengal.

In Southern India, pre-monsoon rainfall is gaining momentum, with wind speeds anticipated to reach 50–60 km/h. Rain is expected in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Puducherry until May 14, while Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may see showers on May 13 and 14.
