Maharashtra Weather Update: Rain and Gusty Winds Likely in 11 Districts; Orange Alert for Vidarbha
Mumbai, May 4, 2026: Weather conditions across Maharashtra remain unstable this May, with parts of the state experiencing intense heat while others are likely to see rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for several districts on May 4, warning of rainfall activity in 11 districts. Thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds of up to 50–60 kmph are expected in parts of the state, particularly in the Vidarbha region.

According to the forecast, seven districts have been placed under a yellow alert, while four districts are under an orange alert, indicating a higher likelihood of more intense weather conditions. Areas in Vidarbha, including Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Washim, and Yavatmal, may experience light to moderate rain with thunder. These districts are currently witnessing high temperatures ranging between 41°C and 44°C.
Meanwhile, districts such as Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli fall under the orange alert zone. Residents in these areas have been advised to stay cautious as strong winds, lightning, and heavier rainfall are expected.
In contrast, heatwave-like conditions are set to continue in other parts of the state. Mumbai and surrounding Konkan districts, including Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, are likely to remain hot and humid, with maximum temperatures between 33°C and 35°C.
Dry weather is expected in parts of North Maharashtra, including Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, and Nandurbar, where temperatures may rise up to 41°C. Western Maharashtra cities such as Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are also expected to see daytime temperatures ranging from 37°C to 40°C, with heat conditions persisting through the afternoon.
Authorities have advised citizens in rain-affected areas to remain alert, while those in heatwave regions are urged to take precautions against rising temperatures.
