Maharashtra: Will 8 Lakh Women Receive Only Rs 500 Under Ladki Bahin Yojana ? Government Issues Clarification
Amid growing concerns about reduced benefits under the Chief Minister’s Ladki Bahin Yojana, the Maharashtra government has issued a clarification regarding reports that eight lakh women will receive only Rs 500. State Minister Ashish Jaiswal denied these claims and confirmed that no changes have been made to the scheme’s provisions so far.
Reports had surfaced suggesting that women who are beneficiaries of both the Namo Shetkari Yojana and the Ladki Bahin Yojana would receive only Rs 500 under the latter. Many women expressed dissatisfaction over this development. However, Minister Jaiswal addressed the media and clarified the government’s stand.
“The original Government Resolution (GR) is still in effect, and as per that, eligible women will continue receiving their entitled benefits,” he said. He added that any revisions to the scheme would be officially updated on the government’s website.
Dismissing opposition claims, Jaiswal also stated, “No legal action has been taken against women who availed the scheme benefits fraudulently, nor has any money been recovered from them. The opposition is misleading the public.”
When asked about the pending increase to Rs 2,100 per month—promised during the election campaign—Jaiswal responded that the government plans to implement the hike in installments, depending on revenue growth and fund allocation across departments.
As for the April installment of the scheme, there is still no official confirmation. However, reports from a few media outlets suggest that the next payment may be credited on April 30, coinciding with Akshaya Tritiya. The government, however, has not made any formal announcement in this regard.
