Maharashtra’s 108 Ambulance Service To Launch Mobile App For Faster, Location-Based Assistance By March 2025
Mumbai: In emergencies, citizens often dial 108 to call for an ambulance, but the wait time and uncertainty about the ambulance’s location can be stressful, especially if the patient’s condition worsens. Starting March 2025, Maharashtra’s new 108 ambulance service will be available through a mobile app, allowing users to track the ambulance location in real-time.
The new app will let users monitor the exact location and estimated arrival time of the ambulance, similar to ride-hailing apps like Ola and Uber. It will also provide the contact number of the driver or medical staff onboard, enabling users to reach them directly. This will allow family members to prepare the patient for a quick handoff as the ambulance approaches, potentially saving precious time.
For cases where patients or their families may not be able to provide an address, the app will use location-based services to pinpoint the caller’s location within 15 seconds, sending it directly to the emergency response center. This feature eliminates the need for callers to explain the location during stressful situations.
Hospital Information Available on the App
If someone experiences a medical emergency while on the road, the app will offer details on nearby government hospitals, allowing them to quickly access medical help. Plans are underway to include private hospitals on the platform as well.
Alerts for Natural Disasters
The app will also provide users with real-time alerts for any natural disasters in their vicinity, keeping them informed and helping them stay safe in emergencies.
