PUNE: The Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) has strongly opposed the upcoming Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) budget, labeling it as ‘BJP-centric’ and warning of approaching the court if the alleged political interference continues.

The controversy erupted following a statement by Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, who admitted to coordinating with Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol to allocate funds based on assembly constituencies and ensure their inclusion in the PMC budget. His remarks have intensified criticism from the opposition, fueling allegations that BJP leaders are influencing municipal financial planning.

Shiv Sena (UBT) city chief Sanjay More condemned the interference, stating, “The standing committee and commissioner hold the legal authority to draft the budget. Ministerial interference is unlawful, and the BJP must stop meddling in every matter.”

Congress city chief Arvind Shinde accused the BJP of using public funds for political gains, stating, “This interference has persisted for three years. It is causing uneven development, ignoring taxpayers’ needs. Elections are delayed only to hide corruption.”

NCP (Sharad Pawar) city chief Prashant Jagtap announced that the MVA would submit a memorandum to the commissioner and, if the budget remains politically influenced, seek legal recourse.

Additionally, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) city president Sainath Babar warned that his party would confront the administration if such political interference continued.
