Makeover of Pimpri and Chinchwad railway stations on Pune-Mumbai railway line shall be taken up soon. Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Laxman Jagtap had demanded that the railway passengers living in Pimpri-Chinchwad should be relieved by providing various facilities at both the stations. Taking note of this, Railways has provided various facilities at both Pimpri and Chinchwad railway stations. The Pune office of Railways has informed about this by sending a letter to MLA Jagtap.

MLA Laxman Jagtap had sent a letter to the divisional managers of Central Railway on December 3, 2021 demanding a makeover of both Pimpri and Chinchwad railway stations.

In the letter, he said, “Pimpri-Chinchwad are  fast-growing cities. The population of this city adjoining Pune has crossed the 25-lakh mark. The number of people traveling by train in this city is in the millions. For this, these passengers have to go to Pune railway junction. However, the Pune railway junction is inadequate. It takes time to develop alternative junctions to sustain the increasing volume of rail traffic. With this in mind, a new state-of-the-art railway junction should be developed on the unused 50 to 60 acres of dairy farm at Pimpri adjacent to the Pune-Mumbai railway line. Similarly, Pimpri and Chinchwad railway stations should be made over.” He had demanded that various good facilities should be made available for the passengers at these two railway stations.

Taking into account the demand of MLA Jagtap, Railways has provided beautification and various facilities at both Pimpri and Chinchwad railway stations in the last three months.

Renu Sharma, Pune Divisional Manager, Central Railway has informed about this by sending a letter to MLA Laxman Jagtap on 24th March, 2022. Solar panels with a capacity of 25 KWP have been installed at Pimpri railway stations. Another 30 KWP solar panel will be installed soon. An accelerator and toilet are provided at the station to facilitate the movement of passengers. Seating arrangements at stations have been increased. The station has also been beautified with paintings based on the theme of scenic paintings.

At Chinchwad railway station, platforms 1 and 2 have been extended to 90 meters, while platforms 3 and 4 have been extended to 65 meters. A new 6-meter-wide bridge has been constructed to replace the old inferior pedestrian bridge. All the platforms are of good quality. Water automation system has been implemented in the stations. The road has been improved. Restaurant on Wheels is provided for travellers. The railways have informed in a letter that new entrances have been constructed on both the sides of the station
