A man at a restaurant in Thane was taken aback when his bill for three glasses of mango juice approached a thousand rupees, which included a charge of Rs 40 for each plastic glass.

Unusually priced items have always been viral. There is a similar news surfacing now. A shopper at a mall in Thane shared their experience on Reddit, highlighting that they “just paid for glasses to drink juice.” The post gained traction on X, going viral and eliciting a variety of responses from users. He added that he decided to stop by a restaurant for a refreshing glass of mango juice. But after ordering three glasses, he found himself shelling out nearly a thousand rupees!

What’s even more shocking is that the restaurant charges Rs 120 of that bill solely for the plastic cups, which, as some pointed out, are reportedly manufactured for less than a rupee each.

A user on X who reposted it expressed astonishment at the high price of disposable plastic glasses, stating, “I knew Mumbai is expensive, but this is ridiculous.”

X users expressed their thoughts on the viral post. Some believed it highlighted the inflated prices found in malls, while others made light of the absurdity of plastic glass being so expensive.

One user wrote, “Ye dekh K Mumbai me Restaurant open krne ka man kr gya.” “Indian business is not responsible to anyone. They need any random reason to deceive customers. Most of them are unregulated and charge as they please!” noted another writer. “So if someone says they don’t want a glass, will they offer juice from the tap,” was yet another comment.
