Goa-based regional airline FLY91 achieved a significant milestone on Wednesday as it received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), signalling the completion of all regulatory requirements.

With its compliance in order, the carrier, known as Just Udo Aviation Pvt Ltd, is poised to commence commercial operations soon.

FLY91 recently acquired its first aircraft, an ATR 72-600 leased from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise, and has already been assigned routes under the government’s regional air connectivity scheme UDAN.

The airline aims to connect cities such as Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded in Maharashtra, and Agatti in Lakshadweep.

As the first Indian airline to make Goa’s Manohar International Airport its home base, FLY91 plans to focus on enhancing air connectivity in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with a broader ambition to include 50 cities in its network over the next five years.

As a product offering, Fly91 aims to improve regional aviation by offering a flight at a competitive airfare for a distance which would normally take 8-12 hours by road or rail to cover.

Led by industry veteran Manoj Chacko, the airline is backed by investor Harsha Raghavan’s Convergent Finance, which has pledged ₹200 crore for the project.

FLY91’s strategy also includes global collaborations to position itself as a last-mile connectivity provider alongside other carriers.
