Marathi Patrakar Din celebrated in Wanowrie

On January 6, 1832, Balshastri Jambhekar started Darpan – the first Marathi newspaper in the British Era. Every year, this day is celebrated as Marathi Patrakar din. Bapusaheb Kedari Pratishthan in Wanowrie held a program to felicitate journalists from different publications on this occasion.

Pramod Gavhane from Lokmat, Sunil Walunj, Prayaga Hoge from Sakal and Renuka Suryavanshi from Pune Pulse were felicitated at the program. The journalists were felicitated by Shivaji Kedari, vice president, Pune City District Congress Committee and Sahil Shivaji Kedari, vice President, OBC Cell, Maharashtra state.

Maratha Seva Sangh is observing Dasharatra Utsav honoring the women leaders from Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule to Rashtramata Jijau from January 3 to 12. Women achievers, lawyers, doctors and nurses shall be felicitated during this ten day festival. On January 6, 2022, Dr Swati Bhujbal and Suzie Sutrave were felicitated for their commendable work in the medical field and in the memory of first Indian doctor Dr Rakhmabai Raut. Also present for the program were Shivashri Rajendra Kunjir, Shivashri Sachin Adekar, president, Maratha Sewa Sangh, Pune city, Madhukar Raut, Mahatma Phule Mandal, Dilip Raut, Akhil Bhartiya Mali Samaj Shikshan and Prabodhan Mandal and Kalyanrao Jadhav as chief guest.
