Earthquake tremors were felt in many districts of Maharashtra, causing panic among residents. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urge citizens not to believe in rumors.

In the early hours of the morning, residents of Marathwada and Vidarbha in Maharashtra were jolted by mild earthquake tremors. The epicenter was identified as Hingoli. The National Centre for Seismology reported the earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale, occurring at a depth of 10 km at approximately 7:14 am.

Regions Affected:

  • Hingoli District: The epicenter, specifically in Rameshwar Tanda village in Kalamnuri taluka.
  • Parbhani District: Tremors were felt in Parbhani city, Selu, Gangakhed, Pimpaldari, Rajdari, and Vasmat areas.
  • Nanded District: Recorded tremors with a magnitude of 4.5.
  • Washim District in Vidarbha: Experienced mild tremors, causing residents to rush outdoors.
  • Parts of Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, and even Karim Nagar in Telangana felt the tremors.

Parbhani Resident Deputy Collector stated that while the tremors caused panic, there was no reported loss of life or property. She urged citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors. The local authorities have initiated a thorough monitoring of the situation and have appealed to residents, especially those with thatched roofs, to remove any supporting stones immediately to avoid further risks.

This recent earthquake is part of a pattern, as tremors were also felt in Hingoli and Parbhani two months ago. Residents of Basmat taluka had previously reported mysterious ground noises.

The director of MGM Space Technology Center and meteorologist, emphasized the need for a geological survey due to the earthquake’s significant magnitude.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. Citizens are advised to stay vigilant and follow official instructions.
