India’s ICOTY 2026-winning SUV is now available via CSD, cutting out GST and sharply reducing the on-road cost for eligible buyers.

Maruti Suzuki’s newest SUV, the Victoris, has opened a significant price advantage for defence personnel and their families by becoming available through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD). With this move, eligible buyers can save up to ₹2.67 lakh compared to regular ex-showroom prices, largely due to the waiver of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The Victoris, which recently won the Indian Car of the Year 2026 (ICOTY 2026), has quickly gained attention for its safety credentials, modern design, and competitive pricing. The decision to make the model available via CSD from December 2025 has further boosted its appeal among serving personnel, ex-servicemen, and their dependents.

Under the CSD scheme, vehicles are sold at significantly reduced prices because GST is either fully waived or charged at a much lower rate. For the Victoris, this translates into direct savings running into lakhs, depending on the variant. While the regular ex-showroom price of the SUV crosses ₹11 lakh for higher trims, the CSD price brings it down to around ₹8.77 lakh, making it one of the most affordable offerings in its segment for eligible buyers.

The benefit is particularly meaningful for defence families, who often rely on CSD purchases for major savings on large-ticket items. Unlike showroom purchases, there are no hidden charges or additional taxes beyond the listed CSD price, ensuring transparency and predictable costs.

Maruti Suzuki has positioned the Victoris as a strong all-rounder. The SUV comes equipped with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual or automatic transmission, offering a balance of performance and fuel efficiency. Safety has been a key highlight, with the Victoris earning a five-star safety rating, a factor that played a major role in its ICOTY recognition.

The model is available in multiple variants under the CSD programme, allowing buyers to choose according to their budget and feature preferences. While base variants already offer substantial savings, higher trims deliver the maximum benefit due to the larger tax component in their standard pricing.

To purchase the Victoris through CSD, buyers must be eligible under defence category rules, including serving personnel of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and certain categories of ex-servicemen. The process involves placing an order through the authorised CSD portal or unit-run canteen, followed by documentation and approval. Once approved, the vehicle is delivered via an authorised Maruti Suzuki dealership.

Industry observers note that making an award-winning SUV available through CSD is a strategic move by Maruti Suzuki. It not only strengthens the brand’s relationship with defence families but also drives higher volumes for a model that is still new to the market.

With rising car prices and increasing tax burdens for general consumers, the Victoris’ CSD availability stands out as a rare opportunity to own a top-rated SUV at a significantly reduced price. For eligible buyers, skipping the showroom and opting for the canteen route could mean substantial savings without compromising on features, safety, or performance.
