Medical facilities seeing improvement at PCMC

The maternity and obstetric surgery department of Bhosari hospital has received the National Qualitative Assured Standard (NQAS) certificate under the Central Government’s ‘Lakshya’ (LaQshya) initiative.

Pimpri Chinchwad commissioner and administrator Shekhar Singh said that maternity and obstetric surgery department of Bhosari hospital has received the National Qualitative Assured Standard (NQAS) certificate under the Central Government’s ‘Lakshya’ (LaQshya) initiative for quality improvement in maternity and surgery department, to reduce maternal mortality and child mortality rate and quality of facilities provided to mothers to enjoy safe delivery and motherhood.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has become the first municipal corporation in the state to receive such a certificate.

Commissioner Shekhar Singh praised the officers and the staff members.  “This is a matter of pride and it is the result of the tireless service of all those who are providing medical services to the citizens on behalf of the Municipal Corporation,” he said.

On this occasion, he also assured that the municipality will continue to strive to improve the quality of medical facilities provided in all hospitals and clinics on behalf of the municipality.

Every pregnant woman wants to have a safe and pleasant delivery experience. For this, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Union Government has launched an ambitious initiative ‘Lakshya’ (Labour Room Quality Improvement Initiative) to reduce the maternal and child mortality rates in the country. The objective of this initiative is to improve the quality of facilities provided in the maternity ward and obstetric surgery department of Government medical colleges, hospitals, district hospitals, upazila hospitals and provide dignified and high-quality maternity care to every woman during and after delivery.

The maternity and obstetrics department of Bhosari Hospital, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has fulfilled the requirements for National Quality Assurance Standards (NAQAS) certification as per the guidelines and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) given under the target initiative.

“ Here every mother and her new-born baby is cared for in the best way possible with proper and respectful care. The services offered in the delivery room and surgery department are of higher quality to make the delivery experience pleasant for the mothers. Every woman’s motherhood is carefully honored during and after delivery,” said medical officer Dr Pawan Salve.

 Under the guidance of Municipal Additional Commissioner Jitendra Wagh, the officers and staff of Municipal Medical Department and Bhosari Hospital played an important role in obtaining the National Qualitative Assurance Standard (NAQAS) quality certificate under the National Health Mission, he said.

The efforts of doctors Dr. Pawan Salve, Dr. Varsha Dange, Dr. Rituja Lokhande,  Dr. Kalpana Gadlingkar, Dr. Chaitali Ingle, Dr. Sujata Gaikwad, Dr. Archana Gandhi, Bhoi, assistant matrons Vatsala Vaze and Anupam Velhe have borne fruit.

Medical facilities in Pimpri Chinchwad are being developed on a large scale to keep up with the development of the place.

New hospitals such as New Thergaon Hospital, New Bhosari Hospital, Jijamata Hospital, Akurdi Hospital have been constructed on behalf of the Municipal Corporation and they are working to provide up-to-date services round-the-clock. A dialysis center will soon be started at New Thergaon Hospital for the needy and poor patients suffering from kidney diseases in the municipal area. At the same time, an infant intensive care unit will also be started here and the municipality is trying to ensure that the needy as well as the newborns born in the hospital and those who need the intensive care unit get treatment in the hospital itself.

‘Mission Akshay’ scheme has been launched by the Municipal Corporation to get rid of anemia in the city and it is proving effective.

Also, on behalf of the Municipal Corporation, all women above 18 years of age, mothers and pregnant women are comprehensively examined under the campaign ‘Mata Safe and Home Safe’. Preventive and curative health facilities are being provided to them. During this period, all women, mothers, pregnant women are provided with free services such as sonography, X-ray, services, counselling, medication etc. at municipal clinics and hospitals. The women of the city have also responded enthusiastically to this campaign.
