Microsoft Acquires Second Hinjewadi Plot Within Weeks, Boosting Pune Data Center Expansion
Pune: In a significant move, Microsoft has acquired another 16.4-acre plot in Pune’s Hinjewadi for ₹453 crore, just weeks after its previous purchase of a similarly sized parcel in the same area. This acquisition strengthens the tech giant’s presence in India as part of its strategy to expand data center operations.
This is the second land parcel acquired by the global company in this area taking its total acquisition to 30 acres with cumulative investment of Rs 973 crore.
The recent purchase was made from Nashik-based Viva Highways Limited, with the company paying a stamp duty of ₹27.18 crore, according to official documents.
This follows Microsoft’s earlier acquisition of another 16.4-acre plot in August for ₹520 crore, which was registered in September. The company had also acquired 25 acres in Pimpri-Chinchwad in 2022 for ₹328 crore.
These land purchases are part of Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to enhance its data center capabilities across India, with major facilities already established in Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai. The developments are expected to generate employment opportunities as these centers take shape.
