Doctors say the boy’s condition worsened after he failed to complete the full anti-rabies vaccination course following a dog bite months ago.

A disturbing case from Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh has sparked concern after a video showing a teenage boy exhibiting severe symptoms of rabies went viral on social media.

The incident reportedly took place in Jogipurwa village under Kachhwa police station area, where a 17-year-old boy named Bhai Lal began displaying unusual behaviour months after being bitten by a dog.

Dog Bite Months Ago

According to information from the family, the boy was bitten by a dog about four months ago. After the incident, he received the first anti-rabies injection and later took a second dose.

However, the remaining doses of the vaccination course were not completed.

Medical experts say completing the entire vaccination schedule after a dog bite is critical to prevent rabies infection.

Unusual Behaviour Alarms Family

In recent days, the teenager reportedly began behaving abnormally, showing symptoms that alarmed his family.

Witnesses said the boy started barking loudly and moving in a manner similar to a dog, while his way of walking, sitting and speaking also changed.

The family rushed him to hospitals and consulted several doctors after his condition worsened.

Doctors Suspect Advanced Rabies

Doctors who examined the boy said the symptoms appear to be linked to advanced rabies caused by incomplete vaccination.

Medical experts explained that when rabies symptoms start appearing, the disease often affects the nervous system and can cause hydrophobia, behavioural changes and severe neurological symptoms.

Doctors added that once rabies symptoms develop, the chances of recovery are extremely low.

Viral Video Sparks Concern

A video showing the teenager’s condition has spread widely on social media, drawing shock and concern from viewers.

Health experts have used the case to highlight the importance of immediately seeking medical treatment and completing the full anti-rabies vaccination schedule after any dog bite, as timely vaccination is the most effective way to prevent rabies.
