Industry tracker AB George described the initial response as an “excellent start,” indicating strong audience excitement around the third installment of the hugely successful Drishyam franchise.

Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Drishyam 3 is scheduled to hit theatres on May 21, 2026. The film continues the story of Georgekutty and his family after the events of Drishyam (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021), both of which became major hits and earned cult status among thriller fans.

Apart from Mohanlal, the film features returning actors Meena, Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil reprising their earlier roles. The supporting cast also includes Siddique, Asha Sharath and Murali Gopy.

The film has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and is being presented by Pen Studios in association with Panorama Studios.

Trade analysts believe the advance booking numbers could rise significantly in the coming days as more shows open across domestic and international markets. The strong early trend has already generated positive buzz among fans and industry observers.

On the technical front, the film’s cinematography has been handled by Satheesh Kurup, while editing is done by Vinayak VS. Music for the thriller has been composed by Anil Johnson.

The production team also includes production designer Prashant Madhav, sound designer Sinoy Joseph and costume designer Linta Jeethu. VFX supervision has been handled by Tony Magmyth.

The Drishyam franchise remains one of Indian cinema’s most successful thriller series, with the original Malayalam version inspiring remakes in several Indian languages as well as international adaptations.

With nearly two weeks left for release, the makers are expected to witness further growth in advance bookings as anticipation around Georgekutty’s return continues to build.
